INDIAN WEEKLY MARKETS!
At some point of time, we all might have visited a local, makeshift market. A market that comes to our colony only for a day in a week, and then goes off, only to return the same day for many weeks to come! India's quintessential weekly markets! They are nothing like a supermarket, or a mall, or "dedicated area" markets. Sometimes they have nothing to offer, and sometimes everything! The very existence of these markets in "Walmart" times and number of people thronging it, wanted me to write about it.
Hope you were reminded of your last visit! ;)
Indian weekly markets are altogether a different scene
Vendors here and there, selling their items, but not being mean.
Purses, shirts, cosmetics are here to be found
Puma, Gucci, Lakme;all gather huge crowds!
Gol Gappe, Tikki, Aloo Chaat are a treat to the taste buds
No trip to the market is complete without them, it is a must!
It is not only eatables and wardrobe which are sold
Small TV sets, headphones also have a good market hold.
"Pachas rupee kilo, Pachas rupee kilo", is what vendors yell
Concentrating on selling their stock, others may go to hell.
Different stalls attract different age groups
Aunties on vegetable area, bargaining by hook or by crook!
Girls crowd the cosmetic section
"I'll buy this,I'll buy that! I want all the attention"
Boys as usual, stick to gadget zone
Headphones at cheap prices, is what they want to own.
There is hustle and bustle and a huge rush
But the warmth of the place, has made it my crush....!!
